1. Jekyll become more healthy-looking and more sociable but soon he secludes himself once more. Curious of Jekyll's weird acts, Utterson visits Lanyon but finds him very ill. Lanyon prophesizes his death to Utterson and tells him that he will give him the letter which he should open after his death. Lanyon dies after a week and Utterson finally opens the letter but finds himself another envelope that says it should be opened after death or disappearance of Dr. Jekyll. Mr. Utterson overcomes his curiosity and hides the letter inside his private safe.

2. This chapter shows strange behaviors of Dr. Jekyll as well as the sudden illness of Dr. Lanyon. Dr. Lanyon mentions that he had brought himself a punishment and a danger that he cannot name. This chapter brings up numerous inscrutable events.

3. It is Mr. Utterson's point of view.
